Looking For Dirty Pictures
Lately when shopping for antique frames, I look for the ones that have not been cleaned for quite some time.
Seeing them before and after is fun.
This one has not yet been cleaned.
From a thrift shop.
Antique portrait of a WWI solider in a gold oval bubble glass frame
Back side of an old oval frame
Another Couple (16x20)
Antique portrait of a woman wearing a green dress in a simple frame
Antique portrait of a man with a large mustache in a simple frame
A new couple purchased today from the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market. This event is so big when the weather is good. It would take at least 8-12 hours just to wander down all the aisles of each vendor. I just sort of speed through because portraits in frames are usually easy to spot. I probably missed quite a few.
I ordered some Kotton Klenser to clean up the front of this pair. I think they will clean up nicely. It will be nice to not have to worry about decorative compo.
The Proctors 20x16
Brown decorative antique frame with a portrait of a couple from around 1900
Picked up today from a thrift shop
Mr. & Mrs. James Proctor
20x16 crayon portrait
Wonderfully aged frame with old glass
1911 Funeral/Memorial card for James inserted between image and glass
Need to figure out how to creatively display that card nicely after I remove it
Alice & Elizabeth 16x20
Image of two young girls
Saw this one a week early at the Wheaton Flea Market with a higher price.
Bought it today at a lower price at the Kane County Flea Market.
Very heavy, probably oak.
Brass plate on front with the girl’s names and 1891.
