It’s an odd hobby, like collecting stamps, but the stamps are much bigger and one of a kind.
A room full of frames looks most awesome.
The current collection of 78 frames
- Finds from 32 different antique shops, flea markets, and online - Much time spent wandering around
- Crayon Portraits & photos dating somewhere between 1865 & 1915
- 3+ generations down, people are selling their ancestors, which is odd to me, especially since physical images seem to be going extinct
Refurbishment steps
- Take apart for a thorough cleaning
- Minor frame repairs while attempting to keep the original finish
- High-resolution photos of both image sides (without glass glare) & just the frame
- If there is any info on the back, documentation & online research
- Reseal with new backboard, tape & glue
- New hanging hardware & wire
- Update public Google Photos album (list below) listing image details
- Glue QR Code which links to Google Photos album for that image on the backside
- Create vector files in Adobe Illustrator of images for a possible future project
