Buying Kids At Goodwill
Boy in chair in ornate frame
Baby portrait with gold oval mat
Two new dead people today from the Goodwill Auction Site.
Each was purchased under my current average price.
That is without shipping.
The cost of gas, shipping, and wander time to discover images falls under my entertainment budget.
These were my first purchases from Goodwill. Their packing departments (two different stores) did an excellent job of ensuring my glass arrived intact.

You Haven’t Changed
You haven't changed
While having dinner with someone I had not seen in years, she said, “you haven’t changed.” She was smiling while she said it, so I think it was meant as a compliment, but the more I thought about it, the more it made me sad.
I shouldn’t be the same person I was years ago.
I should have changed.
The Art of Letter Writing
Thomas Jefferson writing a letter on a laptop computer
While listening to the excellent audiobook Washington: A Life by Ron Chernow, this sentence in a letter from Thomas Jefferson to James Madison made me think about letter writing:
“The motion of my blood no longer keeps time with the tumult of the world.” Full letter here
Does anyone write such flowing letters anymore?
